How They Work

HoseLocks™ are comprised of a three-piece unit: one male and one female body, surrounding a compression ring, offering 360 degrees of even compression/sealing for superior performance. HoseLocks™ are designed to replace any conventional barb-style hose clamp application and may be used with rubber or steel braided line.

How to Measure

To determine which size fitting is the right one for your application

Fitting sizes are determined by both the Hose I.D. (Inside Diameter) and the Maximum Hose O.D. (Outside Diameter), measured over the barb. Push hose onto the barb and measure over the fattest point.

Steel braided line O.D. varies by manufacturer so be sure to measure properly!

Installation Instructions

When you have your HoseLocks in-hand and are ready for installation, here are some helpful reminders to get you up and running:

1. Make sure the internal compression ring is not compressed prior to installation - loosen the fitting halves to be certain.

2.  Slide the hose into the front of the fully assembled fitting (front of fitting has a larger internal diameter), then slide the complete hose and the fitting onto the water neck, hose barb, etc.

3. Tighten the fitting halves together until they are snug or until the fitting and hose cannot be twisted easily over the barb.

4. Pressure test and check for leaks before driving the vehicle.

NOTE: Fittings come with anti-seize on threads from the manufacturer - always make sure the threads have anti-seize applied.

Troubleshooting

Here is a list of some common troubleshooting tips:

 1. Part appears to be of proper size, however, is still loose when fully compressed.

Solution: Remove the fitting, apply silicone tape. The tape will act as a shim between the hose and the compression ring.

2. Front of part slides over hose , but part won't fit properly/hose won't reach the end of the fitting.

Solution: Check to see it is the correct size fitting. If correct size, remove compression ring and re-expand it, then re-install.

Note: On occasion, rings will obtain memory and may need to be expanded.

Note: In rare circumstances, specialty hoses may require an additional shim. Pi-Thon suggests using silicone tape to aid in fitting the part properly.
